COUNTER TO BULL:
- A 0.70 buy score is weak; many quant systems require 0.80+ for conviction. The "bottoms across all timeframes" is exactly what you see before a breakdown — coordinated exhaustion, not necessarily reversal.
- Price above EMAs is backward-looking. In a choppy or trending-down market, EMAs are often re-tested and fail. The breakout above slow EMA (183.6) is trivial if price can't hold it for more than a few bars.
- Capital One's $250 bonus is a standard, low-impact marketing gimmick. It's unlikely to move revenue or EPS materially. Calling it a "positive catalyst" is wishful extrapolation.
- The Trump pick is ambiguous at best. A Capital One exec in a watchdog role could just as easily impose rules that hurt COF's competitors *and* COF itself (e.g., tighter underwriting standards across the board). Regulatory capture is not guaranteed.

COUNTER TO BEAR:
- Low information density is irrelevant if the one relevant item is genuinely material. A single strong catalyst can move a stock more than a dozen noise items.
- The bear's "stricter oversight of competitors" argument is speculative and contradictory — if the exec is from Capital One, he's more likely to favor the industry, not tighten it. The bear is reaching for a negative spin.
- A 0.70 buy signal is moderate, but many profitable strategies use thresholds as low as 0.60. Calling it "not strong" is true but doesn't invalidate it. Dead-cat bounce is a possibility, but so is a real reversal — the bear provides no evidence for which one.
- The bear complains about lack of fundamental data, but that's a feature of the bull case, not a flaw. Technical strategies don't require earnings data to work. The bear is essentially saying "I don't like the methodology," which is not a counter-argument.
